Spring has Sprung, my friends!
And that means (hooray!) the time has come to freshen up, get a new perspective, clean up all the crap that has accumulated over the long winter months. Things like, um, I don’t know, the recession, the stock market, the job market, the prices at the super market, and other super depressing things that make our brains hurt when we focus on them too long.
Because yes. Things are somewhat bad all over… there’s a giant recession, one in ten of us is losing our jobs, and it is statistically impossible for a female to ever again win American Idol (think about it)… Yes. Things are bad. They are. But this Spring, we say, suck it up!
That’s right. Suck it up. Suck up all the bad stuff and spread out all the good. Because beauty still abounds. Goodness remains all around.
And we have decided to focus on the fantasticness we’re seeing everyday. Like the fact that millions across the world cast their vote for the Earth this week, also, you too can join the Shutter Sisters to vote for hope! (Vote. Pick hope. It’s awesome.) and, perhaps least importantly, Dora the Explorer is now NOT getting a trampy makeover. See. There’s still a lot of good to be thankful for. So let’s step into the clean fresh air that makes this time of year great.
And hey, if you do, you could win something too. Because that’s how we spring.
Just leave a comment here about some good news / good things going on despite the fact that things are tough all over. And you are registered to win something awesome.
Bissell is giving three (3) kirtsy users a Versus Bare Floor Vacuum Cleaner. Worth $80 each. These awesome uprights clean up hard to clean up messes (think the economy). Plus they were voted as a winner of Good Housekeeping’s First Annual VIP (Very Innovative Products) Awards. Nice. And now you can win one!
Just leave a good news comment and you’re good to go!
So suck it up. And spring into goodness, good news, and good tidings of great joy for the rest of 2009! We’ll be springing forward right there with you.

We still have a home and an income and spring is making the outside of it gorgeous despite the less than pretty inside. No money to decorate? Bring the outside in! Flowers in vases and pretty soon, homegrown food in the pantry.

Oooh I love positivity! I realize more and more all the time that complaining never does any good, and that everyone has problems (big or small) but the difference in their own happiness is how they choose to react and their attitude. I am an optimist and life is good!! Thank you for spreading positivity ~ it’s infectious!
(And… my 12-yr-old Hoover canister that I use on my large amounts of bare floor isn’t going to last much longer so this would be perfect! 🙂

my niece was born this week, the first baby other than my 4 on my side of our family. she is gorgeous + apparently an easy-going angel. my daughter is kicking off her track season with improved times + lengths from last year, which is phenomenal considering she has only had about a week of practice so far. my little ones are finally feeling better after over a week with a stomach bug. i finally got the motivation to do some serious decluttering, organizing + simplifying.

Despite being more broke then I have ever been, I still was able to scrounge the money up for a $5 train ride around the park. My son looked so happy, it made me feel like a millionaire. He was waving at everyone and was squealing with glee. It made me realize everything is going to be just fine!

I put my shirt on backwards yesterday in the rush before work (I am the mother of a 3 year old and a 3 month old) and one of the kindergarten students noticed and whispered to me, “its ok, it happens to everyone once in a while.”

I would love to have a vacuum that works again! I’ve been hauling the shop vac in from the garage after every use of my home vac, because It just isn’t cutting it anymore.
Oh how blissful it would be to only have to use one to get the job done! With a two year old and 10 year old twins in the house a girl needs a good vacuum.

The pair of blue jays that hung out in our trees last year finally came back yesterday! I thought they were gone for good, after the tree pruners scared them off a couple of months ago. Yay for happy birds!

I turned 30 yesterday, and it’s a whole new decade for me! I’m taking a year-long break from anxiety and fear and embracing the joy in life with no reservations. I’m going to smile my way through spring cleaning and revel in a clean house to enjoy through the summer. I’m going to grow my own strawberries and eat them right off the stems, learn to make pie from the apples on our tree, and run through the sprinklers with the boys. It’s going to be a phenomenal year.

Good news is that, for the most part, we are becoming aware of wasteful spending and of our own habits. It usually takes some form of crisis to make us shine a light on our darkest aspects.

I am very grateful to have a wonderful husband & family! (Even though my husband’s sales were slow this past winter, things are starting to pick up! He worked really hard, & we were able to take our anniversary weekend getaway to the Smokey Mountains!) 6 years married, & 10 years together!!! 6-10 may sound like a prison sentence for some, but we wouldn’t change it for the world!!!
