Are you feeling like a hipster techie jonesing for Tex-Mex food? Weird! So are we!
So here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to SouthBySouthwest Interactive in Austin this weekend. Oh yes we are.
So come on! Join us! At least join us in spirit! Because right here we’re going to give away some greatness. Something techie. Something Texan. And a whole lotta love by way of South By. Sound good? Good! Then let’s go!
Just leave a comment letting us know why you love technology, why you love Austin, why you love Texas, boots, bands, books, or barbecue, and/or all of the above. And you’re entered to win all these fantastic things:
1. The awesomest headphones. The Vibe II with Microphone is V-MODA’s newest dual-use headphone/headset that combines a unique aesthetic design, superior sound quality and a comfortable fit. So you can talk on the phone, listen to music, do your taxes and chew gum at the same time. What more could you need, really?
2. A totally fab printer. The HP Photosmart C5500 is an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. Suuhhweeet. It prints photos directly from cameras, phones or other Bluetooth®-enabled devices; it prints directly onto CDs/DVDs; it has multiple memory card slots and a 2.4-inch color display. It can probably chew your gum for you and do your taxes for you as well. At least. It’s that awesome.
3. And $100 off excellent boots of your choice from Allens Boots! For real y’all! Allens Boots is THE place to go get your cowboy boots on.
And it’s also THE place to be this Sunday, March 15th from 5 pm-9 pm when kirtsy joins with our favorite Guy (http://alltop.com) to host the first ever Girl/Guy party sponsored by kirtsy and Alltop. If you’re in the area, join us for boots, beer, books, bands and BBQ. Whaaaahoooo! Want to get on the guest list? Email us asap (while there’s still room) at kirtsy@party.com to reserve your hay bale!
So let’s party techie style y’all! And get wild about SXSW!
UPDATE! Hey y’all the RSVP list is closed. All spots accounted for. Yeeeehaaaw! Can’t wait to see ya there!

I love technology for the eureka of creation and reaching mass audiences! I also love BBQ but not while coding, the sauce is a s.o.a.b. to get out from in between Mac keys.

nothing keeps me from my BBQ, not even coding 😉 … and my fave thing about technology is that i feel connected to people who live in different timezones, on different continents. and austin just plain rocks.

I love technology because it keeps our mobile family in touch.
I love Allen’s because the smell is intoxicating in there. Every time I return to Austin I buy another pair of boots there. Addicted.
I love Austin because I can bike down the trail after work, take off my top and sunbathe on the warm, balmy lawns of Barton Springs.
On ANY given night I can see great live music and eat the best BBQ ever.
I love how Austin breeds creative people and keeps them there.
I can’t WAIT to get back! (sorry, I just needed this excuse to vent!)

I’m so sad I’m going to miss the party! But have loads of fun! As for technology, it has made my life so much easier in many ways, and has allowed me to connect with so many great women I would not have met otherwise.
For those who think IRL is being harmed by the tech world, I say — NO WAY!
As for boots, I got some pretty nice ones at MOM 2.0 in Houston!

I love Texas because the best ribs I ever ate were from a tiny little town right by the panhandle. They were divine.

My husband loves bbq – many of our first dates were spent eating it!! And although we haven’t made it to Austin yet, one of our close friends is from there and we have been sold on all of its glories!!

AUSTIN! My Love. My hometown growing up. What is not to love….there’s something for everyone there. My heart belongs to Texas! Everything in your list here sings home to me, and I miss it SO! As for technology, this is what keeps me close to my loved ones back in Texas while up here in Philly! Holla!

I love technology because it allows me to take my creativity to another level. If I can’t find what I’m looking for in a retail shop, I can almost always create it myself with a little ingenuity on the computer and an awesome printer (hint, hint as to which prize I’d like!).

I love technology since it enables me to keep up with my out-of-state family easier and also has gotten me into SO much more crafting and trouble for that very reason. Living in a small town, technology is a life saver! I was born in TX, so I love it!!

I love technology because it’s enhanced my life exponentially. I could not imagine going a day without my iPhone (often times I’ll fall asleep with it in my hand). I also love the song that Kip sings in Napoleon Dynamite about technology. It pretty much sums up how I feel.
I’ve never been to Austin, but my husband has and he always comes back with amazing stories of food and music. So I’ve fallen in love with it though I’ve yet to visit.

I love Austin because my brother and sister-in-law live there, and because it reminds me of a place very close to my heart–Portland, OR! And a host of other reasons, including Central Market and its bulk spice section, which I desperately want in Minnesota, so desperately that I wrote a (desperate) letter to Central Market. Do you think it’ll work?
And I love technology. Because it keeps on getting better and makes me smile…and aids in creativity.

I love technology because it helps stay close with my family (who lives about 2000 miles from me). I love to share pictures, stories and anything that I’m enjoying lately on my blog. I also love to have music with me when I’m on the go, and my hubby got me a cute little orange iPOD. And…who doesn’t love cow(girl) boots!

If I didn’t have it in my life, I would be about 50% less cool. Seriously. No blogs? No digital cameras? No aimless perusing of website after website for ideas and inspiration? I would be BORING, people. And even more so if I didn’t win those darling boots to make the entire mom’s club jealous:)

March 11, 2009 at 7:31 pm
Jessica @ A Moxie Mom
I don’t want to even imagine living without the comfort and conveniences of technology. Technology has helped me share those milestone moments with friends and family. As well as create beautiful books for our kids & family so that they may reminisce about the special occasions that we have shared. But most importantly it has kept me closely connected with those that I am seperated from by the distance between our homes & shortened that distance.

It’s not that I love technology, it’s that I can’t live without it. I’m so codependent that I don’t know where I start and where Twitter ends. Kirtsy my world already.
And Texas? Well, one trip in June was all it took to make me a true believer–the stars at night are big and bright!

Well don’t I just wish I could be there right now! I never lived in Texas, and I’ve never visited, but by GOLLY I love me them cowgirl boots and ol’ timin country music on the radio! And technology? Well, I just can’t live without it. I am a photographer, and without my digital camera and other techy items, I would be a lost soul.

I’m not sure where we were supposed to leave a comment but I’m leaving another because I want some boots!
I love technology and social media because of the way it connects like-minded people together.
I love Austin because it won’t threaten to snow or snow or freeze my nips off. Also because it’s that awesome pocket of blue in a state of red.
And I love boots because who doesn’t love cowboy boots? Also I plan on getting a pair before the party. So if anyone at Allen’s boots is listening (HOLLA! I’ll totally pimp your boots if you find me a pair in a size 11!)

I live in Lehi, a little country town, which I’ve grown to love as a city girl. I’ve been aching for some sweet boots to fit in here – help me! and technology? It’s the only way to keep in touch over those miles and miles that separate my loved ones from me and my littles! p.s. that printer and the headphones? Yeah, they’d be well-used in my house.

I love technology (well, the internet, specifically, in this case) because I’ve always been extremely curious and now I don’t have to make random calls to the library reference desk all the time. When the next question pops into my head, demanding an answer, Google is at my beck and call.

Technology is amazing. Instant gratification! I don’t have to take film to the photo lab. I don’t have to spend postage on letters. I can call someone when I’m not at home and make long distance calls from the computer for free! How amazing is that? It makes staying connected so much easier.

Technology helps me get stuff done! And I have a lot of stuff to do. And it keeps me connected with friends and family halfway across the world. Technology is what lets me wear Old Navy even though I am miles and miles from a store. Technology also pays the bills. For real – I pay bills online and we can pay those bills because my husband works in IT.
I live on a tropical island. (But it’s a U.S. territory – please keep me in the contest 🙂 I have never been to Austin. But thank God for PBS because I love Austin City Limits!
I don’t love boots. 😦 I love zorries (what many would call filp-flops, or slippers). See above – I live on a tropical island.
But I love barbecue! It is a way of life here. The flavors are different than the flavors in Texas. But boy is it mmm, mmm good! Barbecue brings people together.

Love, love, love Austin, my husband and i spent Christmas there are few years back b/k (before kids) cowboy boots are my favorite, from the midwest, lived in AZ during college years and am now living in Boston, whenever I want to get sassy, I don a pair of cool kickers.

This is such a fun giveaway!!
+ I love technology because I can sit in a meeting and look like I am paying attention all the while updating my facebook, checking e-mail, blogging and twittering!
+ I love Austin because of the amazing funky stores you can find on S. Congress, the Four Seasons hotel is the perfect getaway, and the restaurants are to die for!
+I love Texas because I am a native Texan and I love being able to tell northerns that we do not in fact ride our horses to work/school. And we are home to the best fajitas in the world!

I would be LOST without my computer. It keeps me connected to my friends and family far away. Lets me look at all kinds of amazing and inspiring art that I would never get the opportunity to see otherwise.
I would be lost without my camera, for with it I capture my every day life.
And books are my saving grace. My great escape when the constant emails and the phone ringing off the hook are a little too much to handle 😉

Why I love technology? Because I’m an expat and would be very isolated from my family and friends back home if it weren’t for computers, internet, voip, blogs, twitter, flickr, facebook and the like! I love Austin, I moved here 1 year ago and won’t move anywhere else. Sunshine, bbq (Rudy’s! Salt Lick!), cool people and SXSW. The only way it can get better is if I get my Allen boots, then I will feel like a local 🙂

I obviously love technology because I have to use a timer to limit my Internet time, otherwise I have a hard time kicking myself off! I love staying connected to people through their blogs and I love finding fun crafts to make and recipes to try. I love Texas because my only brother lives there! And because of the warm weather, something I am sorely in need of!

I love technology because it keeps me connected to the outside world on days where all I here is “MOMMA this pants are giving me a wedgie….” sorry that was my house this morning. And I’m a proud Texan myself and if you happen to know any weird Texans you know how proud we are of our state, Tex-Mex (which I could live on) and Bar-B-Que!

Can’t tell you why I love Austin since I’ve never been there, but I can tell you why I love Texas!! My wonderful husband, St. Gene, is from Houston. And that’s enough reason for me. As for technology, well, gee, what’s not to love. I’m a computer-loving 65 year old semi-nerd! I play with my photos on the computer, I stay in touch with my family with email and Facebook. Digital camera? Oh yeah, that’s me! And where else would you find great giveaways like this one except on the internet.

I love technology because you can see and sample everything without actually being there to experience it in person. Living in a small town makes it hard to keep up but technology let’s you.

Texas is the greatest state and Austin is the greatest city ever!!! The only drawback to Texas is it’s size, it takes forever to get to another state. Because we live in Texas and all of our family live in other states we rely heavily on technology to keep in touch with our family. It has become even more important to us since we had our daughter. Grandparents are able to see & talk to their grandchildren via webcams on a regular basis now when we only get to see one another in person maybe once a year.
March 16, 2009 at 3:49 am

I love Texas because my college roommate was a Texan, and so I spent years of my life with a large outline of Texas made out of barbed wire and a Texas state flag hanging on my wall. She’s still my best friend so I remember it fondly. I love technology because without it I would rarely ever talk to my husband, he’s crazy busy working/grad school. And I REALLY need a printer so I’m hoping I win!

When you have one son with his driver’s license and another about to get his permit it is essential to know where they are (or are supposed to be) at ALLLLL times! My phone is glued to my side!!! Could NOT live without it. Oh and BTW thank Goodness there weren’t cell phones back when I was trying to be sneaky!
